GIS Analyst

Description

Develop, maintain, and support a variety of geographic information systems (GIS) datasets and maps for the clients of the GIS Guys. Provide mapping support to internal staff and the general public.

Principal Duties

• Prepare map services for web map applications using ArcGIS Enterprise
• Ensure projects follow the appropriate processes and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
• Help innovate customer data management to increase quality and reduce processing time.
• Perform the required type of analysis on a variety of geospatial projects and industries.
• Assist with training the staff in the use of GIS and related practices; support staff throughout the learning process. Coach and/or mentor as needed.
• Create models to automate processes.
• Coordinate the acquisition of new spatial data and integrate it into new and existing geodatabases.
• Identify areas where technology can be leveraged to solve an operational challenge or where services can be enhanced.
• Meet with clients and colleagues to define data needs, project requirements, and required outputs.

Qualifications

Required:

Associate's Degree in Geography or related field; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS. Knowledge of fundamental GIS principles and practices. Experience with MS Windows and Windows-based applications. Excellent cartographic, written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with mapping, surveying, and engineering principles and practices as applied to municipal systems.

Preferred:

Bachelor' degree in Geography or closely related field of study; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and experience with ArcGIS Pro. GIS Data analysis experience. Experience relevant to the ESRI ArcGIS environment. Experience with creating high quality maps.
